I am a proud son of a WWII/Korean War veteran. I have had the blessing to have taught  American History for 35 years. I loved every minute of it. I have a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Minor in German Language earned at California State University, San Bernardino, and hold an MA Degree with honors in WWII Military History from American Military University.  I have written and published multiple books on World War II, advised on multiple movies and podcasts, and served on the Board of Trustees for the world-renowned National World War II Museum, founded by the legendary historian Dr. Stephen Ambrose, located in New Orleans. My students over the years have interviewed thousands of veterans and recorded their stories, receiving national recognition. I have been honored as the U.S. Army’s Recruiting Command’s National Teacher of the Year and the U.S. Navy’s Educators at Sea Teacher of the Year. It was indeed a thrill to receive my Army award at the Alamo from a three-star general from the Pentagon, and to also receive my naval award by flying with the Navy’s Blue Angels. In 2016, I was honored as a “Medal of Honor Teacher” by the Medal of Honor Society at Valley Forge. Recently, I was asked to be the Historical Advisor to “Duo Metha,” a classical music company based in Madrid, Spain, whose musical purpose is to remember the Holocaust and the struggle for human rights throughout the world. Additionally, I partner with World Strides, a travel company, and provide experiential WWII journeys from Washington, DC in WWII, From London to Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. I believe that we learn best by doing and interacting with history and each other where it happened! I look forward to working with you to keep the lesson simple: “Freedom is not free.”
